About Eversource Energy
Formerly Northeast Utilities, Eversource Energy is New England’s largest utility company, delivering energy to 3.6 million customers across Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Its subsidiary, NSTAR serves 1.1 million electricity customers and 300,000 natural gas customers in eastern, central and southeastern Massachusetts.
Eversource Energy electricity rates
Those in the Eversource service area can easily shop for electricity plans to see if they can find a better one. These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity. There are additional costs for the delivery of the electricity to your home or business. The delivery costs will remain the same no matter who supplies your energy.
Eversource Energy "Price to Compare"
If you don’t sign up with an energy supplier of your choice, your current utility will continue to provide you “Basic Service” by default, at a rate approved by your state’s Public Utility Commission. The “Basic Service” rate is your “Price to Compare.” You can use it as a comparison tool to help calculate how much you’d save by switching to a plan offered by an independent energy supplier.
If another supplier’s price per kilowatt-hour is lower than the “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference by switching to that supplier. If possible, you should avoid the “Basic Service” rate, since you will likely pay a higher rate than you would with an independent energy supplier.
