Elgin energy deregulation
In 1997, Illinois began deregulating the state’s energy industry, meaning that business and domestic consumers would be allowed to choose which company they would like to purchase their energy from. Until recently, most of the area’s energy needs were provided by a single company. However, since 2010 there has been aggressive competition within the state with numerous energy providers competing for business.
Elgin utility companies & energy providers
Utility companies continue to generate power and maintain the infrastructure required to deliver energy to homes and businesses. This means that switching between providers doesn’t involve any changes to wiring or gas pipes, and the quality of service remains the same, regardless of who the energy provider is.
Elgin’s utility company is Commonwealth Edison. In terms of Elgin energy providers, Choose Energy has formed partnerships with some of the best in the area, including Champion Energy Services, Spark Energy and Reliant Energy, all of which provide some of the best energy plans in Elgin.
Elgin renewable energy
Green energy is increasingly popular in Illinois in general, and the state is a national leader in wind energy. In Elgin, it is now possible for residents to choose energy providers that are 100 percent renewable.
Choose Energy is a partner of AEP Energy, which provides affordable renewable energy in the Elgin area, allowing consumers to save money while they are helping to save the environment.
